nytimes.com – Unlike most of Robert De Niro’s work, this drama has a happy ending. Representatives of Mr. De Niro have reached a settlement with the town of Gardiner, N.Y., in Ulster County, over the value of his 98-acre property there, both sides said on Tuesday. For three years, the property’s $6 million assessment had been in dispute, leading to a lengthy court case that cost the town many times more in legal fees than it stood to earn back in taxes.
