washingtonpost.com – As President Obama winds up for major executive action on immigration policy, we got to thinking: Didn’t Americans turn against comprehensive immigration reform this summer? Indeed, several polls in July found a drop in support for granting illegal immigrants some form of legal status, after news broke that tens of thousands of undocumented immigrant minors had crossed the U.S. border. But more recent polling suggests that dip has largely passed, and majority support for a path to legal status is at levels basically indistinguishable from early this year — before the border situation flared up.
